Buy vacuum cleaners cheaply: Consumer tips
Whether it's your own four walls, office spaces, or outdoor areas – they clean all types of flooring and upholstery. In most cases, vacuum cleaners have the right equipment for every nook and cranny, as well as for stubborn dirt. Buyers just need to find out which type of vacuum cleaner is the right model for their needs.
Cylinder vacuum cleaner
The classic in the vacuum cleaner category and still the most popular selling model is the cylinder cleaner. It consists of a wheeled housing that contains the motor and dust compartment, as well as a mostly adjustable suction tube with attachment. The latter can be adapted to different surfaces (carpet, tiles, wooden floors, or furniture and curtains). Buyers have the choice between a replaceable bag or a removable dust container. The suction radius depends on the power cable from which the device draws energy. Since 2017, the wattage must not exceed 900 watts. In most models, the suction power is adjusted via a control. Users should pay attention to the length of the cable, that the vacuum cleaner operates efficiently, and that the noise level is not too high when purchasing.
Handheld vacuum cleaner
Handheld vacuum cleaners are practical helpers for small messes and hard-to-reach nooks. They operate with a motor that drives the blower, creating a suction effect. While the dirt remains in the bag, the clean air is filtered back out. Most vacuum cleaners have a control for the intensity of the suction. Various brush attachments can be used depending on the surface type. A small downside is the relatively short runtime of an average of 30 to 60 minutes – then they need to recharge for a few hours.
Robot vacuum cleaner
Robot vacuum cleaners are becoming increasingly popular for house cleaning. Robot vacuum cleaners do the work completely on their own, allowing the owner to relax. Thanks to the often available smart home function, the device can also be programmed to a specific time, so the vacuum cleaner starts its work unattended. Usually, these futuristic vacuum cleaners are flat and round. The intelligent robots are powered by a battery. When the battery runs low, they mostly return to the charging station on their own. Using sensors or cameras, the surroundings are scanned, so the robot stops before stairs and furniture and can navigate around them if necessary. Emptying is done manually or at the charging station. Care must be taken with the size of the vacuum cleaner. If it is too tall and does not fit under all furniture, some areas will not be cleaned. Thorough cleaning can also be difficult in corners due to the round shape.
Wet-dry vacuum cleaner
The all-rounder that sucks up wet dirt, dust, and liquids is the Wet-dry vacuum cleaner. It has a larger capacity than other vacuum cleaners and is also suitable for commercial use in workshops or gardens. Conventional models have both a vacuum cleaner bag and a water collection container on board. The desired working method is selected via a switch.
