Buy hand blenders: Consumer tips
Simple models have only one speed setting, but many products feature two to three settings to create a finer food puree. Most hand blenders are powered by a cable, but there are also cordless devices with built-in batteries and chargers, even with lithium-ion technology.
As with a hand mixer, additional attachments can be added via a detachable blending foot, such as a food chopper for chopping herbs, onions, nuts, cheese, meat, etc. There are also additional devices available for grinding seeds or coffee beans. Some appliances can even be used as a vacuum pump for food preservation.
Hand blenders are suitable for pureeing vegetables, fruits, and meat (e.g. for baby food), for blending, shaking, whisking liquids (e.g. soups and sauces), as well as for whipping egg whites and dairy products. Compared to a stand blender, the hand blender has the advantage that it can be used directly in the cooking pot. This way, users can avoid the hassle of transferring contents.
