Gas grill: Consumer tips
In addition to grilling items like meat, fish, or vegetables, you obviously need a grill. There are basically three different methods to prepare meat over an open fire. You can grill with charcoal or opt for an electric or gas grill. A high-quality gas grill is particularly recommended, but what are the advantages? And what features should the device have?
What types of gas grills are there?
Gas grills are available in three different designs. There are smaller tabletop models for caravans and those who, for example, have no space on the balcony, and the two following designs. The most common variant is the gas grill with a cart, which can be easily moved thanks to its wheels and can be covered with a tarp like a charcoal grill when not in use. The least common is the gas grill that is permanently installed.
The advantages of cooking with a gas grill
Many grilling enthusiasts swear by the use of charcoal due to the aroma. However, this produces a lot of smoke, and the fuel takes a while to heat up. Additionally, fire starters are not particularly healthy, and cleaning the grill can be tedious. In contrast, when you turn on a gas grill, the device is ready for use within a few minutes. Both direct and indirect grilling produce less smoke. You can also individually control the temperature and cooking process. Even after the meal, a gas grill shows its practical side. Fat and meat juices run into a water tray, which can be easily emptied and cleaned. And what about the aroma? Here too, gas grills can score points.
A lot of flavour for little money?
If you want to buy a gas grill, you need to invest a little more money. However, a gas bottle usually lasts a long time, and you don't have to constantly buy charcoal and fire starters. For beginners, a gas grill from the mid-price range is recommended. You should ensure that the temperature is infinitely adjustable. The materials used can also influence the purchasing decision.
Large gas grills with easy-to-clean surfaces
If you regularly grill with family or friends, a larger gas grill is recommended. The gas bottle is hidden behind a door. There are shelves on the sides and partially behind the grill surface where the food can be placed. If these are made of high-quality stainless steel, they are easy to clean. The same applies to the grill grates. These should ideally be enamelled, as fat and grill residues can then be easily removed. If fat and juices land in a tray filled with water, this area of the gas grill can also be cleaned with just a few simple steps.
Grilling and keeping warm like a pro
If the food requires more heat, a gas grill with a second burner is recommended. You can also use this to keep grilled dishes warm. A second grate is used for this, under which the heat should be lower. When grilled at the right temperature, you can serve your guests delicious food and keep leftovers pleasantly warm.
