I simply love these poles. Really well made, lightweight poles with a shock absorbing tip. That really takes the edge off. My husband has the same poles but without the AS option, so we have been able to use them simultaneously...View More for comparison. Conclusion: yes to the AS, it does make a difference. The other great feature of these poles is the top part of the grip. When going downhill, you have something ergonomic to lean on. Fits great in your palm. I don't think there worth the price they are they never come with rubber feet the quality is middle range there ok nothing special
