This is a SUPERB instrument, and frankly, overkill for what I am using it. I have a $20 IR gun I've used for a while to measure things such as wood fired pizza oven stone temperature, PC processor temp, etc. The Fluke 572...View More far exceeds the performance of my cheap device, as well as it should, since it cost 35 times the less expensive product. However, the 572 allows for adjustments for things like emissivity (how a measured surface reflects and emits heat), which increases accuracy. InView Less

I selected this Fluke 572-2 to test the temperature of my glass kiln. My last few glass projects cracked during the cooling phase and I suspected that my temperature controller on the kiln was off.
