What differences are there?
Baby rockers, also known as baby seats, provide a special entertainment value as they respond to the child's movements by rocking. When visiting friends and relatives, the baby is not parked somewhere in a stroller but is always in the midst of the action in a baby rocker. If equipped with a carrying handle, the baby seat can also be easily transported over short distances. If more movement is desired, there are special baby swings that stand on the ground and are battery-operated. To ensure that children do not fall out and have a good seat, some models also come with a safety belt. Adjustable swings are particularly advantageous, as they may even come with a mobile or music and can be converted. This way, the model can be used for several age groups. There are also baby swings that can be hung in the garden, allowing the little ones to get fresh air in the summer. When choosing the location for the swing, you should consider adequate sun protection, the swing direction (the baby's line of sight), possibly the strength of the tree (stability of the branch), or the secure anchoring of the frame's legs in the ground. A (baby) swing should not be installed in close proximity to paths, other play equipment, sand areas, or sandboxes. Other children may have difficulty assessing the swinging motion and the associated danger, which can lead to accidents.
What should you consider when buying?
Baby seats, rockers, and swings are tailored to a specific weight and age group. Age is actually secondary, as the child's height is more crucial. The head must be able to rest fully, and the back must be adequately supported. The legs may extend slightly. Ensure that the child cannot slip out and check the safety devices such as straps. Furthermore, baby seats, rockers, and swings must be flawlessly manufactured: splinters or sharp edges can lead to serious injuries! If the rocker is designed as a baby seat, it can also be used for transporting the child in the car. The baby seat should comply with group 0 plus (from birth to 13 kg body weight) and the current testing standards ECE 44-03 or 44-04. The testing standard must be affixed to the seat in some form (usually an orange label).
