This is a replacement for a scratch pad of the same design. The first had been used so much there was nothing left of the scratch pad, but is was 19 years old, so not unexpected. At first the cats ignored it (like for three...View More weeks!) However, one of my cats seemed to have a light bulb come on, and one day started scratched on it, and we have been good since. This one looks sturdy, and I assume it is going to last as long as the last one. I would recommend this product.View Less
